Who services yours?

Timmy

Hi everybody

Just had mine in at an independant garage and frankly the service received was woefully short of my expectations. No names for legal reasons but I wont be going back. So if you dont mind, can you post me your favourite garage/mechanic who has given excellent service in the past? Location not an issue, size of operation not an issue, just someone who appreciates what we have and doesnt treat them as just another job sheet number.

TIA

Timmy

I was extremely pleased with the service and approach at Autofarm. I first contacted them looking to buy but they couldn't help. However, i found a car that they ahd looked after and when I called them, they got out all the service records to confirm what had been done and gave me their view of the car. On taking delivery it needed an oil change and an alarm fitting so the car went straight to them. They kept me informed all the time the car was with them and then collected me from the station when i came to pick up the car. They identified a couple of potential problems which if left would have meant a good chance of a breakdown.

The bill might not have been the cheapest but I don't do cheap when it comes to finding the right people to look after my cars! I have since had a few minor questions and they have always answered cutiously and promtly.

Northway..

I have a choice of independants on my doorstep, but it's worth the 2.5 hr journey to Northway's. Friendly reliable service. They've looked after 3 of my previous cars and always give great advice

Just had my 3.2 serviced by JZ and thought the service was excellent as well as the customer service (lift to and from station, etc...). I will definately go back next year.

I also went to the RS morning a couple of months ago and was very impressed by their facilities as well as all the RS's that turned up for the free geomotry check. Bacon sarnies were pretty good too.

Use GT1 in Chertsey too. Peter/Craig v.helpful & also pragmatic in how they deal with car- will give you list of things which they advise should be done, and also list of stuff which can wait for a bit but will need doing. Happy to recommend them.

And don't forget to mention Mels name (prices go up by 20%....[:D])

Parr in Crawley - know what they are doing and some very nice eye candy in the garage to look at

Don't believe a word Matt says, but do mention my name.....[:D]

Steve at Jaz in Wembley looks after my car. Very straightforeward to deal with, excellent work and fair prices. There is also a great body shop (Chris @ 911 Bodyshop) and a parts place accross the road so you can leave the car with them and they can do everything between them.

Very happy with their work.

Andy Fearns at AmD Technik Bicester. Does Allan's (uktrucks) as well. Ex Autofarm, well known to Paul McLean (RSR) and a thoroughly decent mechanic and bloke. Mobile is 07730 989895. Probably one of the best 964RS mechanics in the country.

JZM are fantastic - not the cheapest but if peace of mind is what you are after, they are the best value for money. Customer service is up there with the best, as others have said. Hartech in Bolton are also very good, although they seem to deal more in 944/68's etc. I am probably doing them a disservice saying that, but thats the impression I get.

Thanks for the input everyone

Interestingly enough not a single recommendation for the place I took mine to!

Seasons greetings and happy RSing

Timmy

I am sure we would all love to know where you were dissatisfied Timmy - I don't think it is wrong to name and shame, in fact in the interests of helping fellow club members I would say exactly the opposite! After all, it is only your opinion.

Surely the NW of England is a more convenient location than wot them southerners have recommended. Seeing as its an RS I'd suggest either 9M ( Colin Belton) in Warrington or Tech9 ( Phil Hindley ) in Hale/Liverpool as both know their RS's.....I take mine to Tech9 as I got it from them in the first place. Happpy New Year !

I use Unit 11 Porsche at Warrington for main service to our C2 964,taking an official Porsche service pack(from MannIsland Porsche, trade price),Mobil 1 oil from Costco(22.95 +vat/4L) and John charged £227.5 = vat.
It is a small outfit,he is an ex Service Manager from the Hale Porsche outfit and knows his stuff.
