Who wrote in PP about their Gallardo?

I see from the 997 register section on page 126 of May's PP that one amongst us was brave enough to buy a Gallardo and has returned to Porsche. I, perhaps others, would be very interested to hear of your experiences with it.

So would I as I was close to buying one then thought about the depreciation and likely impact the Audi R8 will have and thought otherwise. They do seem to have a problem with clutches, certainly on the earlier cars, and with a new clutch costing at least £3k with even oil change servicing at £1k the 911 starts to look like a bargain.
 
I didn't write the article but I do own an 06 model e-gear Gallardo alongside a 997 TT. The TT is far easier to drive in a spirited manner shall we say and easier to thread across B roads due to more supple suspension and a better vantage point from sitting higher up. The Gallardo simply blows it away from a weekend toy perspective though as it is a much more engaging drive that gets the adrenalin going and has a sense of occassion that the more clinical TT does not. The wail from the V10 is simply incomparable to the somewhat subdued noise of the TT. Would I give up the Gallardo for the TT? Absolutely not if the purpose of ownership was as a fun car. If it was a prospective daily use car then the practicality and ease of use of the TT would win out.

The clutch issues affecting the earlier cars should all have been sorted out by now and there are owners on other Lamborghini forums who are approaching 30k miles on a clutch with plenty of life left showing on the wear indicator. Like all exotic/super cars though, clutch life can be considerably shortened through abuse and poor driving technique. Lifting off the throttle slighlty on upshifts in the e-gear cars helps to protect the clutch for example.
