...it's back...and competing on a hillclimb or sprint near you!!! So expect more pix.........[:)]

I have my closet tendencies, esp over the winter months. The car is clay'd, polished and topped with Zymol. That doesnt mean I'm scared to use it of course!

Mine is overdue some TLC in the polishing department, what can I expect to pay for this kind of treatment assuming I don't do it myself, please? Ian

A decent detail? About 500 notes (ish) Depending on the colour of the car and condition of you paint, doing it yourself can yield good results. If you have a dark car with swirl marks, you will really struggle, however a light car is more forgiving. Equally non-metalic is easier in my mind. Expect it to take longer if you do it yourself. I recon, that now Minty has been done a few times, I can do the car in about 8 hours (maybe more if I do more than just the paint). However, Minty lives in a garage and does 2-3000miles a year, and doesnt get driven in the wet (unless its on track). Also bear in mind if you do it yourself, it will cost you about #80 quid in stuff. Decent car shampoo, clay bar (with lubricant), decent polish, a wax or sealant plus some proper microfibre cloths). Thats said, standard Autoglym products will give a decent finish, if you use, bodywork shampoo, super resin polish + extra gloss protection. That will cost 1/2 price and 75% of the result.

Had to pinch myself to check I wasn't actually dreaming this. Polishing tips on the 964RS forum???[:(][;)]

Yep , been going that way for a while.....I think Des started the rot when he had his family polishing what is now your car at the PCGB Brands Hatch extravaganza some years back .

Oh no - what Have I done?!!!! How about if I told you that I've just convinced my better half to holiday in Anglesey ( so I can go racing) and that I'll spend holiday budget (that was) to race in europe in June / July. Can I come back? [:D]

Hugh, simply post some pics of cracked discs, melted rubber and stone chips and let us know that the yellow Pagids were just great!

Polishing? - next you'll be growing a beard and yearning for a 993 or an MGB GT! [:D]

H, sorry if I have caused you grief, the information you have provided is helpful thanks. In my defence I have never polished my car in 13 years which is not good. My car is red which has it's own issues if subjected to the wrong kind of attention. I use my car regularly on road and track and feel that I look after it well, regularly washing it and always take it for a quick spin to ensure it's completely dry. The car is garaged so not exposed to too much sun and has not faded but the (origional) paint could still benefit from some careful treatment. Ian

Ian, these guys are like coyotes, and I was easy prey. [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] Red being a warm colour works well with something like dodo orange crush http://www.dodojuice.com/orange-crush-carnauba-car-wax.html. I've not personally used, but seen cars done and its pretty damn good. You'll still need to do do the surface prep first. As said above you wont go far wrong by walking into halfords and leaving with a bunch of Autoglym, and some expensive cloths. Oh, and a quick scout around on www.detailingworld.co.uk will help, just dont give away my forum ID on here! [:)]

I'm hovering over the delete button....this thread is doing the reputation of the 964RS no good at all!![;)]

Melv Is there no chance of a Sticky - Detailing 964RS Seems like the owners have moved to a new place in ownership. PS Must admit I quite like whippin my clay bar out if I have an hour or two spare.
