why am I a "non-member"?

just a quickie, and I'm sure, a silly question but.... I seem to appear on this forum as a non-member. seeing as how you have to give your PCGB membership number during the registration process, how can anyone posting on the forum be a "non-member"?

The info is hidden away in the email you received on joining the forum.
And, as it is a common question, you'll notice at least one member has the info repeated in his sig at the bottom of all his posts!

The info is also in the FAQ in the General forum.

still doesnt answer my question, which is - given that you have to supply a username, name and PCGB membership number in order to join the forum, why then do you get given access as a non-member and have to repeat the process to get membership status?

the whole thing seems needlessly anal and controlling to me. particularly as when I used your bl***y link forum@porscheclubgb.com my email got returned saying there was an error with the address.

its no wonder the forum is so quiet. pistonheads dont give you this grief

ah that question.

The answer is that the forum software is not linked in to the membership database.

The fact is anyone can register to use this forum. It's only when you email club office with your membership details that they can then switch on your 'member' status

all becomes clear. still, i suppose i should not complain that the forum software is stuck in the 1990s when after all I am driving a car from the same era. some good things came ofut of the late 20th century, the 968 being one of them. I'll try again on that flaming link

the Forum software is as good as it gets - the club database is recently updated. The issue is linking the two systems together - it could be done but at a cost that is not, in my view, justified - the Board would much rather spend the money on more relevant stuff.
The email link at the top of each Forum page works fine - forum@porscehclubgb.com is not used ...

Eeep!

It used to be! I've been telling people it was this one since Sophia left...

People have been asking so much I have had it in my sig for the last month!

So I change it to cluboffice@porscheclubgb.com? Is that the one now?

the other address gets all of the error messages so can be hundreds a day!!
Sophia@porscheclubgb.com still works...
