non members go on events or meets on the pcgb club?
myself and the wife wanted to go on the wolds tour in july as we were both not working on that sun, but when i applied for the entry form was told that as we were not members, we were not allowed to participate!

Hello Mick

I think the answer you received actually says it all.

A certain number of events that are run by the Club are specific to Club Membership. other events are "open" but even then Members may benefit from cheaper entry tickets.

Why not join the Club? there are a huge number of benefits and you could save more than the cost of joining just on your insurance. ( I have just saved £160.00 on just one of my cars)

We will all make you most welcome.

Have fun

having been in various car clubs, we did not really want to commit to joining as we only intended to go on events that took our fancy, i realise all the benefits off joining the club, we will have to see if i can talk around the mrs into joining!
it would have just been nice to participate in this event to get a feel of my region and meet the other people going on it!

There is also an issue with insurance at events, with the Club's cover being restricted to Members only. Something that's sadly important in this age of health & safety laws, and particulalry relevant with "moving" events where cars are being driven on the public roads under the Club's organisation.

I'm sure that most regions would be happy to welcome you to visit a Club night, if you called the organiser and checked first. Paul's correct, though, joining the Club and getting to a range of events is the best way to enjoy it. Membership should really cost nothing over a year, as the discounts available can easily cover the fees.

Am I missing something? Its not an unreasonable request. After all, if there are no such advantages of club membership everyone would do the same. And then there would be no club.

Hi All

There is also the issue that " the event has to be organised by someone" "paid for by someone" and controlled by someone.

Thats how all clubs are organised, and why people join. PCGB is no different.

To own a Porsche and infer that one finds it difficult to justify the membership fee is a bit limp IMO.

Join up. Have fun.
