Leather straps - What 356's where these on?

In so far as I know (no doubt someone will know different) It was only the competition type models (ie Carrera and some special Speedster models that were fitted with Leather Straps.) I understand it was the Belt and Braces theory - in that if one method failed the other holds on.[;)]
Now what would have been interesting is to know if the factory every fitted these straps as standard ?[8|]

Why not contact the 356 Reg Sec Fred Hamptom - he will have the answer.

Contact details in Porschefile

It's little known, but Max Mosley is a 356 fan (not surprising given his love for German methods)

These have been fitted at his request for his own purposes - the leather of the straps being a particular request from him.

What he does with these two straps placed low down on the bonnet - where you would have to bend uncomfortably to reach them - I have no idea though...?

Dear oh Dear Mark
I don't consider your comments would go down to well with MM. []
Many years ago I saw a car sticker which remains my favourtie[;)] (and in recent times it has reminded me of MM) it Said:-

'GIVE MASOQUIST A FAIR CRACK OF THE WHIP'
