why does...

Cos the 924 is and Audi part, and the 944 a VW one? [;)]

seiously, it wouldn't surprise me if it is a VW/audi part, in which case try German & swedish (steering rod-ends are £30+ dealer and £9 G&S 'cos they are a VW Golf Mk1 part!). That or Bert @ berlyn services will probably get a more sensible quote than you're getting.

By steering U/J do you mean the lower section of the column in the engine bay? If so it was £220+VAT last year then suddenly dropped to £39+VAT, but I think I heard it went back up again.

I think thats right Fen, im not really that technically minded but it failed its mot this morning because of it. Everything else seems to be fine. Do you think you could fit one from a 944 or is it a little more complicated than that? A 924 steering UJ comes in at between 120 and 160 quid but the 944 UJ is between 40 and 60 quid.

Check on PET (assuming you have it) or call Adrian at Exeter OPC on 01392 822841 to check. I'm guessing it's different though as I think I was going to have to change it to go to a manual rack.

The 924 one is different, shorter, than the 944 one. I accidentally purchased a 924 UJ and after connecting the upper joing the lower one wouldn't reach the rack!

Cheers guys, Sorted it out now. like neil said the 924 one is shorter, but if id had a 924s i could have used a 944 UJ. finaal cost is somthing in the 200 pound + region.

Thanks again,

Andy
