Why ?

Left my car in a fairly good area for a couple of hrs last night and came back to find mine and the 3 series BMW with both rear tyres slashed , and I mean slashed. One of the rears has done just 1000 miles and the other about 6000 and Mich Pro Sports aren't the cheapest tyre in the world.. I know its a trivial matter in the cold light of day but needless vandalism just gets on my nerves and has left me £300 worse off..

And its my tax/MOT and service also this month [:(]

There are some nasty b*****ds around these days unfortunately.
I think some people see the badge and get jealous - i had one young lad, whilst i was driving through town last month, for no reason give me the "one finger salute" and a load of verbal. Why, just because i was in my porsche.
I hope they catch the ones that have damaged your tyres.
I don't think car vandalism is taken seriously enough though these days. It's a very sad society we live in.

Seconf that! Why do people think that by damaging a car that you have worked very hard to be able to afford will make them be a better person and somehow be glad to take away some of your hard earned pleasure?! My mrs' car was scratched just before we bought it off my mum (p reg rover 214si parked outside her house).....I would love to ask them...WHY?! Followed by an utter battering and leave them with a similar scratch![] Sorry if that offends anyone what with all the PC these days....but I don't care!

I disagree. It infuriates me that some little (or large) scum bag should think that he has the right to destroy someone else's property and cause the owner considerable inconvenience into the bargain. If a tyre costs £50 or £500 it makes no difference. I'd bring back flogging for the little sods myself.

Why do they do it? Because they think they can get away with it and in the unlikely event that they are caught nothing much will happen any way.

Were there any cctv cameras about?

James , unfortunately not ... of the 6 cars parked only me and the Beemer got our tyres slashed.

Chris - sorry to hear of your problem.
I have an ageing Clifford Concept 600 alarm on my car, this has a proximity zone alarm so that anybody/thing gets too close for too long gives a very loud sharp scream. Scares the crap out of me sometimes if I spend too long looking for the keys. Maybe, in time it could be an idea to fit an alarm with this sort of facility.

Hi Chris, commiserations about the tyres, it`s all too frequent nowadays. My car had a footprint on the bonnet when I bought it where someone had run right over the top of it, the vendor was selling the car because he was totally sick of the reactions he was getting from complete strangers.
I ran out of petrol once , luckily 10 yards from a filling station and could push it into the forecourt, people were slowing down and shouting stuff like "serves you right, you bastard"Decent cars seem to bring out the worst in people unfortunately.
regards,
jr.

I totally know where you are coming from with that one! There are an amazingly about of people that make nasty comments; however the irony is that there Ford Focus cost them more! I just prefer driving something with a bit of character

Hi Chris,

needless to say i echo all previous comments about the small minded, vindictive behaviour of some people. I once picked up 2 puctures, one in each front tyre, on my last 951. After a bit of poirot style detective work i found a pile of roofers nails stategically placed outside my garage door. I lived on a big inner city council estate at the time, so perhaps it wasn't so much of a surprise. Luckily they were both repairable.

I must however counter some of the negative reactions everyone gets buy saying i get a lot of friendly comments about the 944, along the lines of
'I don't like porsches but that's really nice'
'that's a cool car, what is it?'
'nice to see the 944, i always liked them'

It's not all rosy, i did recently catch a couple of of the local youth trying to see how firmly the bonnet badge is attached!

All i'm saying is, there is also a lot of love out there for the 944

I agree with that last sentiment. I have never had any wilful damage done to any of 7 Porsches over 10 1/2 years. My Turbo spoiler was broken by a neighbour but he was trying to set the alarm off when he was drunk, not damage the car.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I have only had one instance of abuse too - about 2 hours after picking up my very first one I flashed someone to get him to move over on the M40 and he gave me a strange wave [8D]. By contrast I have had many instances of "nice car". Just after buying my cab I was asked twice if it was for sale (of course that didn't happen when it was for sale [8|]) and even recently with the Turbo I've had a Chavfords employee make a positive comment (actually maybe that isn't a good thing), a builder ask "how fast does that go mate" and on Saturday at South Mimms two blokes in an RX8 came over to chat.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]All that said I got more positive reaction in my Impreza, but it was all from the sort of people I'd rather didn't notice me (not the Rozzers but 5 year old boys, Mr Baseball Cap & Big Dog etc.)[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Like Fen I have never had any negative experiences with any of my 6 Porsches. However we are given more respect by the local yoof & "Pimp me ride" brigade which may be down to us keeping all 3 three of our finest Germanic posessions at the same address:
1x 944 Cabriolet
2x Dobermans

Sorry to hear that chris it really does make your blood boil and the little scrotes do it because they can get away with it. Where abouts in preston was it? (making sure i dont park there now!!). Not had any aggro with the porsche but i did have superglue squirted over my jag last month which gave me the same feelings of anger, bemusement and wanting bloody revenge that no doubt you are feeling now

here's hoping the chav falls on his knife after shoplifting a bottle of bright blue vodka muck!![][][][][;)]

Hi Chris,

Really sorry to hear that, I have had two of my Porsches keyed outside my home. The second one was one of 18 cars vandalised in our neighbourhood the same night! Plod tracked down the culprit, took loads of statements, took the guy to court and the case was thrown out for lack of evidence!
If we ever meet you can see the remains of the scratches on the side of SCZ. A rather sick war trophy.
Sounds a bit thin but chin up...
Best Wishes

Cheers for all the kind words guys, the car has two new rear tyres and my wallet heavily dented - as always I tend to look on the positive side ( gave the car a good run to bed the new tyres in [;)] ) , nobody got injured and hopefully the scum bag will get his/her rewards in due course.

Zeb the car was parked in Fulwood nr the RPHospital so it wasnt in a bad area at all.

[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Well not exactly but he didn't target the car with the intention of damaging a Porsche and he did pay for it.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
