Wibbly Wobbly

Guest

New member
Sitting at the traffic lights tonight, I noticed that the car was very gently rocking as if the rear end was being physically pushed or bounced side to side.

What's that all about? Anyone else experienced this and, if so, what's causing it? [&:]

Oh.... that sounds a bit bad, a broken engine mount...? [&:]

It doesn't do it all the time, though, and it didn't seem to do it when I took the car out again just now. Strange. Thanks for your thoughts guys, I'm sure Bones will help me confirm if a broken mount is indeed the cause of the twitchyness when we meet up at the weekend - that is, if he doesn't get sick first!! [:D]

To be honest I can't remember how the revs were but I have noticed them wavering a bit in the first 10 minutes or so in general. All will be revealed when Bones casts his beady eye over the car at the weekend, I'm sure. [:)]

Having spent a very enjoyable few hours round at Bones' place, it was quickly determined that the engine mounts are fine. [:)] The wibbly wobbly effect (which, typically, didn't occur at any point of today's driving) is down to something else then. The revs do hunt just a tiny bit now that I'm consciously looking out for it, just a smidgen of movement on the rev needle and audible. But it only does it sometimes, typically not while Bones and I were peering into the engine bay while it was idling.

Got a wealth of advice and tips and all kinds of good input from Bones - this man really does know just about all there is to know, plus I witnessed him driving the 911 the way it's supposed to be driven!! Great guy, cheers Pete mate, I'll buy you several pints as I'm probably going to ask to pop round several times!

[:)]

You're way to kind John and blimey that must have been the slowest I've ever driven down the Ridgeway. I think your cars sound fine just maintain it properly and it'll go for ever apart from the valve guides of course and the suspension and tyres and the blowing exhaust and.....[:)]

... and all the other things, yes! And, that was the slowest I've ever driven down the Ridgeway as well. [;)]
