Width of 996 4S

pakes

Hi All
I believe the width of a 4S is 1830mm at the widest point..
Can anyone tell me what the width is in the middle where the doors are please.
Im trying to work out if I would be able to fit one in my garage and be able to open the door a bit so I can get out.

Many Thx
Matt..

Afraid I can't answer that but the normal 996 I about 6cm narrower so it has to be narrower than that. Having had a variety of cars in my normal sized garage ranging from a Boxster to a BMW X5 I have been able to get in and out of them all. Assuming it is a normal sized garage and you are average size too you should manage. Another option when you test drive is to get someone to measure how far you needed to open the door to get in or out and how far that was from the widest point of the car. Alternative is to ensure it has a sunroof.........

I think it will be very similar width at the doors. the 60mm is mostly on its backside. Waist should be about the same as a C2/4, and front end is exactly the same.

As with Richard. I suspect a C4S/turbo would fit in my garage, but removing rear tyres in-situ could be a problem - it is tight with my C4

I wondered about buying a small gazebo for this very reason.

My C4S lives in my garage - it is a reasonably modern house with a standard single garage. I have no problem getting in and out although I do try to park with a bit more room on the driver's side - the main difficulty is that there is only about an inch either side of the wing mirrors to get through the garage door frame and sometimes I have to fold in the mirrors to be sure to avoid a scrape.

Hi, for me its much the same as Chris Bradley, in that I fit my 996 turbo into a standard single garage. It's a bit of a squeeze as the door cannot be fully opened to get in or out but I manage okay. You may want to place something on the front and passenger walls to avoid damage as you'll need to get pretty close - a lot of people put a piece carpet. As a guide I've placed a tall piece of cardboard at the front just to give a visual marker, before the wall that is! Hope that helps. John.
