Will a 1972 rear Bilstein fit a 1971 T ?

He should upgrade all 4 corners at the same time or he my find himself bouncing into the scenery. Be aware that there was a change of damper design and mounting sometime in 72 MY. My April '73 reg '72 2.4S has the early style.
 
There is indeed a change in damper mount in about '72. I guess my car was the change over model as one side is pre and one side post! More likely it has be crashed at some point in the last 35 years and an older part fitted. The damper mount moved back for the 'E' series about 6mm to allow for larger diameter dampers. I have Bilsteins and on the 'early' side the damper tube just touches the driveshaft at full droop. So I guess if your contact fits later dampers he will have a problem with them touching the driveshafts.
