Concerning your trade in price, I came to an agreement for my 996 Cab part ex'ed for a 987 that I would get a certain price as long as the milage did not go over a specified amount.

So it looks as though it might fit, but the rear window has a changed profile?
I think the profile of the side windows is different to.
The 986 hard top is 2kg heavier than the 987!

Come to think of it why do you fit a Bose? It seems to me to be the worst car audio on the market, lot's of money and all Bass, most people buy it and spend half their time looking through the manual on how to switch the base unit off? But hey, it's a free Country......................

Dapster, It's a matter of choice, and as it's a free Country.........................

I agree about Bose - not the best use of a grand....Pretty poor audio package, although Bose in a more accoustically suited car such as an Audi A8 sounds amazing.
Regarding the hard top, if you are going to buy a convertible, are you not limiting it's use by sticking a hard top on it?

As in my previous post there are many options on a Porsche/Boxster many of which I personally would not consider, Bose is one of them (as I was unfortunately recommended to buy by my dealer on a 996 C4 and regretted it from day1) coloured wheel centres, Porsche logo branded on the headrest...... I could go on. I do however do not have a problem if you choose these items as it is your choice?
At the end of the day it's the customer's choice, and my money!

My wife use to have a Merc SL, in the winter she used to put a panoramic hardtop on it, it worked well for her, now she has a new SL and the little varmit tucks it away in the boot.
When I go on a long journey in the Boxster it is somewhat wearing, if the Boxster hardtop works as well as the SL hardtop then for 3 months of the year and times when I want added security then why not?
As I said it's my money and my choice, what I had asked in this forum was the technicality of it, not expecting to embark on a psychoanalyst of why I want one.
Just for the record I am not against open top cars, I used to race them but that's on a track not on the road (and with apologies to Manchester people) hardtops just give me that bit more security North of the Thames.

Pictures are from Ken.
I tried my 986 humps on a 987 about 2 years ago. They don't fit either.

I never used a hard top with my Boxsters. Have you seen what the hood looks like after it has been in the folded position for 5 months? [:'(]
Unfortunately yes!

Why on earth do you want a hard top anyway? I've had a Boxster through 5 winters, and have never felt that it needed any more weather protection. The only reason you may choose one is if you are worried about the roof being slashed, but you'll miss out on all those sunny winter topless opportunities!
Heated rear window for one!
Lighten up people - the hard top is an option just as umpteen other items are. If you don't see the need for one that's fine but don't lambast others over their choice of options.
