Will a PCM 2.1 disk work on an MY05 997?

My current disk is 10.2004

I have an opportunity to buy a PCM 2.1 DVD (05.2007)

Will it work in my 01/05 997 or do I need an upgrade???
 
It will not be accepted without the software upgrade. The upgrade is CD based and a copy may be available from another member, try a search on this forum. Or your freindly Porsche centre might do it for the usual fee but the new disk will have to be an original and not a copy.
 
They certainly look like original disks (factory sealed with the usual hologram)

I note that on a previous post you say that the upgrade using the CD's is free at any OPC... I shall make enquiries tomorrow, but should anybody be aware of the location of a free copy [;)] feel free to let me know about it!

It's only "free" if you purchase the upgrade DVD.

You say "discs" plural. The mapping etc. upgrade is only 1 DVD. Maybe you have the CD's as well?

I now have copies of the following PCM DVD Navigation disks:

10.2004 (original)
08.2005
05.2006 (original)
05.2007 (original)

It is not possible to upgrade directly from 2004 to 2007 without firstly upgrading to one of the interim versions

I have also backed up the disks to my PC, and having looked at the file names & sizes (I'm not technical), can only assume that there are updates to most of the files in each revision
