Will I fit in a 944?

I am anticipating buying a 944 soon and i have one nagging doubt...I am 6ft 3 ins tall and 17 st plus, will I be able to drive a 944 comfortably, any other large people out there who know the answer??

You will be fine - just don't expect to have anyone sitting behind you!

Curiously it is the shorter people that are more likely to have problems - the windscreen rail is VERY close to thier head if they need the seat forward to reach the steering wheel...[&:]

My mate only just fitted, he is 6'2" and about 17 stone, wide shoulders. But seat was right back and he said that he really needed a tad more leg room, but i suppose it depends on your body shape too...

Try it and see. I am a short @rse and its the steering wheel that i find a pain, its slightly too low.

its slightly too low.

Well drop the seat down then [;)]

Chris,

I think a gentleman of your stature would find some trouble in getting a sports car that would fit you better than a 944. You will find that the 944 driving position is very adjustable.

In fairness to Slim, the steering wheel is quite low and upright (the only criticisum that Tiff Needel made of the car IIRC) but you could get a removable boss kit to assist in entry and also to move the wheel back slightly to accomodate realy long legs.

I concur with that - my husband's 6ft 3ins and weighs about a stone less than you. He fits in the 944 very easily but back seat passengers are not an option.

On the other hand am 5ft 2ins and need the seat so far up and so far forward that the bloomin sun visor smacks me in the head every time I need to use it. [:)]

Yes, we are the odd couple! Stop laughing at the back![:D]

Funny you should mention that sun visor Dawn, as when i first bourght my 944 my friend pulled down my sun visor down for me as i was driving and smacked my glasses off hahaha[:D] I'm 5ft 9in and put the seat almost right forward to press the clutch down all the way. The peddle box needs to be more forward a few inches.

I'm 6' 3" and 18 stone (that's all I'll admit too anyway:)
Once the seat's adjusted then it's very cdomfortable, I can even move the seat forward a bit and let my 8 yr old daughter sit behind me.

Mine are sports seats as well.

HTH, Tim.

Thank you folks I feel a lot better now, all I've got to do is find a suitable steed to buy. and yes I know its late but thanks to shiftwork I've just got home!

You may know this already, but the oval dash cars have slightly more legroom under the steering wheel than the early ones. I'm 6'3" (with my legs accounting for about 5' of that [:D] ) and my knees were up around the steering wheel on the early dash cars I tried. I've also fitted a momo wheel with a spacer to let my knees fit in 'behind' the wheel better.
