It all depends what offset they are and whether your '86 hubs are early or late offset

Before that you'll have ET23/17 front back, after that it will be ET50-55ish.
If the cup 3 wheels (like this: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/396152.htm?) are 996 or Boxster ones then they won't fit (well, not without big spacers, 40mm ish).
You can probably find markingings beside the valve stem if you have Porsche wheels on your car at the moment -- something like 9J/ET55 which give you the wheel width and offset. Get this information and the same from the set of wheels you hope to fit and go to: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp and plug the numbers in. Then when you get back here and tell us you need huge spacers we can all tell you how you'll go through a set of wheel bearings a year (didn't stop me...)
Note that there are cup3 replica wheels out there with offsets of 17 or 23mm (I forget which but it doesn't make much difference). Have a set myself and they bolt straight on early offset cars.
Any other questions just ask.

Can anyone tell me if cup3 18 inch alloys would fit my 1986 2.5 lux model please?
cheers!
Alan
Hi Alan,
Cup 3 18" alloys are available in various off-sets (the ET measurement). If you are referring to a specific set, you will need to check the ET value for each (front and rear) to see if they will fit your 1986 2.5 model. Assuming your car is non ABS (as most 1986 944 models were), you would need wheels that have an ET equivalence to your original wheels ET23mm
The idea is that the centre line of the fitted wheel is in line with wheel bearing. Hence, wheel width also effects the final result. If the wheels you have are ET52, they will be too inboard.
Hence, we need to know the respective widths of the wheels and the ET value before we can determine if they fit.
See diagram below to help.

Andrew

How woill I find out the difference Paul?

If those Cup1s are original, the offset and width will be stamped either side of the valve. If not, then the offset will certainly be stamped / cast into the rear of the wheel (usually the rear of one of the spokes) ~ you'll see "ET52" or similar.
