will these wheels fit

hi
just bought a set of Gemballa Le Mans 18" alloy wheels, fronts are 9" and rears are 10" wide, et52 are the offsets on all wheels, the tyres are currently not on the rims, these sizes are 225/35/18 front and 255/35 or 40/ 18 rear, are there any wheel experts out there who know if these will fit my 1992 carrera 2 964 narrow body coupe, i don't think there'll be any problem with the rears as i've had some split rim veloce lookalikies on not too long ago, its the fronts i'm more concerned about.
cheers shawn

Hi I think you will find the tyres will rub in the wheel arch when you turn on steering lock. even with 7.5 et 52 on the front you can get this. Berny.

Shawn,

The 9" fronts are likely to be the problem, as you suspected. Chassis contact is going to be the problem as Berny mentioned. An 8.5" wheel with a 225/40 tyre is just about OK as long as you have the correct offset (around the 47mm mark). A 225/35 tyre is the wrong size anyway. The rears are likely going to be OK (with 265/35 tyres) but you may need a small spacer to move the tyre away from the oil pipe in the right rear. An offset of 47mm is best for a 10" wheel with a 265 tyre.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Dave

I wouldn't put these wheels on a 964 at all.

Stick with a nice set of Cup 1 or 2, they look better and give a more compliant ride.

Most 964 and 911 owners are reverting back to original style wheels.

cheers for that everyone, it is currently on 17" cup 1 alloys, just like the look of these and got them at a reasonable price, does anyone know if they'll be better suited to a 993 narrow bodied c2, as this is the car i'm maybe going to get if mine sells?
cheers shawn

The rears are the same size and off-set as mine. I use a 265/35/18 tyre though. The fronts are 0.5 wider than mine with the same offset. I dont have a problem with the fit on mine and there's plenty of space on full lock.

If you have the tyres why not fit them and test how the wheels fit?

Good luck and any pics?

Chris

cheers chris for that,
will be getting them powder coated soon so no point putting tyres on until after that, will then give them a go, nothing to lose.
do yours ever catch the inner edge of your front wings? mines on eibach springs and bilstein shockers, whats yours on?

Those Veloce wheels look very nice.
If you still have them and want to sell, give me a shout.

David.

Looks best with the Cup 1s I think.

If you want it to look a bit different you could always paint them black like my car.
