Will used prices drop significantly over the next month?

Hi to everyone

I'm ready to buy a Cayenne S on an 04 plate and I'd really appreciate feedback on any likely price movement over the next month or so given the new facelift that is due out.

I've started to notice a widening price differential between OPC used and non OPC trade sales. Currently a fully specced 04 S is being sold for 30k trade where a reduced spec 04 S is being sold for around 35k at the OPCs (same colour and mileage). Is this the market moving faster than OPCs?

Is it best to wait an extra period of time (4 - 6 weeks maybe) to make sure I get the best value from the 30-35k budget, or will prices remain fairly static over this period?

any thoughts you have would be really appreciated, thanks - Simon
 
you may not see forcourt advertised prices drop, but I bet you can negotiate a lot harder now.
I had my money on a new facelift Cayenne with zero discount available, I went into a MB dealership to see a ML63AMG and after having a 63 for the weekend & loved it I managed to bag 8% discount on a new unregistered car for 1st March.
do not let any dealer bully you into paying top wack.

dealers usually have 15% margin on used vehicles.

You`ll always pay more at an OPC as somebody has to pay for the premises, You`ll have the peace of mind of a warranty, which is why people buy cars from OPCs. Sales of the Cayenne have dropped and the facelift model has not apparently rejuvinated fhem. Given the backlash against "chelsea tractors" and Ken`s antics in London, I`d give it 6 months and you`ll probably save a few grand as they`re likely to fall out of bed big time.Do you want to be stuck with one given that values are likely to fall off a cliff?

Simon a Cayenne S with reasonable mileage at £25/30K is terrific value
even with the prospect of a drift in prices.Whatever you get now will fall in time
and if more people/factories take the same line as todays Sunday Times on 4x4's
maybe we have seen the worst. Dont forget you can buy a warranty.I believe "The Telegraph" advertised one is quite good

In answer to your original question, I 'm sure the new model will have some impact on the current Cayenne prices. I let the dealer have mine back last month to get a better price than waiting till March when my new one arrives. Prices are dropping about a grand a month anyway on a '04 S, so reckon on another grand on top in March.

They are trading out around £27/8k with the V6 2k less for 04's 05's are now around £30k, the diffrence is the 20%+ OPC mark up, in the next month or so I would expect some reduction due to more p/ex upgrades on the company car front.
 
Thanks for everyone's thoughts, i totally agree with tiskev, it's a terrific car for the money. I really want to buy from an OPC so i'm going to wait another 2/3 weeks and see if the difference between OPC and the market will reduce and also see if there is greater choice through trade ins.

It's just the money is currently burning a hole...

 
Well I'm out of date looking at the prices of the recent additions to Northways sale list
04/2004 38k V8 S £28,995 Black
03/2003 42k Turbo £35,995 Black
05/2005 16k V6 £31,495 Titanium

There is no benefit to buying from an OPC except a £5k premium on the price and labour rates double the Independants, you can still get a Porsche warranty by having it inspected at the OPC

By the way cheapest equavalent 04/2004 on OPC list is 32k for £33,911
