Wind Damage

Just returned from taking one of my daughters for a blast along the coast and discovered that a piece of trim had 'blown away'. It seems that the adhesive, which retains the trim, has perished and the wind must have lifted the trim to the extent that it snapped off.

The damaged area runs from underneath the bridge spoiler and along the edge of the tailgate to just behind the rear side window (see pics). The bottom end of the trim is screwed on but the top end relies on adhesive pads to retain it, so after 19 years or so it is worth making sure that the adhesive pads (double-sided Tape) are in good condition.

Does anyone know where I could get another piece of trim? Perhaps someone breaking an S2 with bridge spoiler.

Any help appreciated

Chris

I have a recollection that this hockey-stick shaped bit is pretty expensive new, and not going to be very common as a used part as the bridge spoiler tailgates tend to go as a whole. [&o]

Check out the new price, don't forget you can knock a further Club discount off that.

Chris,
Not helping i know, but a preety comon fault on this type of tailgate.
Plenty of breakers about though.

Thanks for your response guys. You are quite correct Paul, The chances of locating a used part do seem remote However, I will persevere as the new price for the 'hockey stick' and the rubber seal is 200.83 pounds. Meanwhile I will apply a length of black tape.

Last I heard going rate for a good bridge-spoiler tailgate was £450, almost worth it for the two side pieces alone!

Do any of the aftermarket spoilers have a similar trim? Could be worth investigating. I'd suggest that, if you have a bridge spoiler on your 944, or you are a 968 owner browsing here as it's such a useful forum [;)], you find a way to stick them on permanently.
