Wind Deflector...

jac in a box

New member
Nearly lost my wind deflector yesterday. Heard this unusual flapping/vibrating noise behind me and it looked as though the deflector was about to take off!

It appears that part of a retaining clip on the defelector has broken away.

Are the clips replaceable and simple enough to change? I've had a quick look but I'm just not "mechanically minded"
Or is it a new wind deflector?

Thanks, Jackie

never done it myself but i understand they are quite easy to replace and amazingly anough for porsche they are not too expensive either.. don't forget your PCGB discount

Hi Jackie,
Someone had posted about a part number for the broken clip recently, do a search on the Boxster forum for the subject line, "Part Number for Windstop Clips"

You just pry the old clip off.

I broke one of mine and replaced both of them. They have redesigned the clip so that it is less prone to breaking.

Be advised that not all service departments are aware that you can get the clips separately and they may try to sell you the complete windstop.

JCB..

Thanks for that JCB...if the part is re-designed, would I be right in assuming it will still have the same part number?

Not sure if I'm using the search facility correctly - but I can't get anything on windstop clips part No's.
I'll give the dealer a call and see what happens.

Try this part no at your OPC 9865617380001c latch I was given a spare one by Greig on Porsha forum

Thanks for the part number Brian - I needed it

I tried to get them from Edinburgh OPC; they'd have to order them - but wouldn't stick them in an enevelope and post them to me! Not going to do a 140 mile round trip to collect them. (Should add they were apolgetic about not posting the parts - distance selling regs' apparently)
Aberdeen are ordering the clips - now they've identified the part using the number you gave; and postage is not a problem!
