Wind Deflector

Hello, just bought a 2.7l 05 987, but it didn't come with a wind deflector. I see the perspex is about £180 from the Porsche site. Questions are - is there an alternative, would I also need a fitting kit, should I get the mesh for the rollover hoops as well...do they make a noticeable difference.....??... as you can see I am new to the Boxster.

Having said that, in the past I have had a very early model 944 and then in 1993 a nearly new 968 which I kept for about eight years - they were both great cars but this one is just unbelievable fun.

Firstly welcome Gary I wish you all the best with you new car - Im sure you will enjoy it! Lets hope we get sun shine![;)] Take a look at http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=porsche+boxster+wind+deflector&_sacat=0 For the items you require.

IMHO yes, the deflector does make a difference and is worth getting.

Hi Gary I bought both the Perspex Wind Deflector with case and the Mesh Inserts (which also make a difference) from that well known site for a fraction of the cost, both were in excellent condition. I did buy the fixing kit (3off location clips and Rivets) from the local Porsche dealership. Fitting the clips is relatively straight forward but you do need to carefully remove the Rollbar Padding, new fixings for these are provided in the kit. You will of course also need a Rivet Gun. Hope this helps. Paul

Yes the wind deflector kit makes a huuuuge difference at speeds over 20mph. With it my hair is not blown around, without it, i can barely see where im going cos of the wind being sucked into the car from behind! I got mine from an ebayer, they pop up from time to time. Remember the 986 & 987 kits are different and cant be interchanged. I think i paid around £80 for the mesh and the screen altogether. X
