Hi.. does anyone know anything about fitting a wind deflector to a carrera cab? I have seen both the metal fold up/down type, but also a fabric one that seemed to stretch over the headrests of the front seats. This idea seemed a very good as it didn't render the back seats out of action and could easily be taken off/on. However, do they work, and where can you get them if they do? I would appreciate any advice I can get from any previous experiences anyone has had. I am planning a trip through France in the summer and dont wish to be blasted on the M-ways...... any ideas????
Cheers Adam

Hi Adam,
I have a 3.2 SSE Cab and have been using the metal type that fits onto the seatbelt bolts for about 3 years now.
It cetainly makes a difference but it does not elliminate all the draft.

Used it extensively last Sept on the factory visit to Stuttgart & Leipzig, worked well on the autobahns at 100mph

It does stop people getting in the back seats but it is really easy to remove and replace, only 2 nuts and bolts.
I certainly do not go topdown without it in place and when the hood is up I drop it out of the way so I can see out better.

I bought it from Classic Additions who advertise in the PP

Adam.....
Thanks for the reply. Does the metal type fit under the bonet when not being used? Have you seen the fabric type that stretches over the two front headrests. I really like this idea, but cant find anywhere that sells them.
Any further help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers and keep it in the road!

Hi Adam,

The hood can be lowered and raised with the deflector in the upright or flat positions; it is well clear of the hood mechanisms.

Unfortunately, I have not seen the other type of deflector you mention hence cannot comment on it.

Mike.... Thanks for the reply. I had a look at the link that you sent, but my car does not appear on the list of 911's.
The list only includes manual hood Carrera's, up to 1983. My car is an electric hood 1988. How much are you looking for it and do you know if it will fit my car....... I take it that you haven't seen the fabric type either?
cheers

Hi Adam,

By the way my 1887 SSE Cab has an electric hood, if that helps. The Classic Additions deflector fitted easily with no problems.
