Wind noise from drivers side wingmirror?

Most strange this as it has only happened twice and doesn't happen every journey but I heard a wind whistle coming from the drivers side at motorway cruising speed.

Sounded like a window slightly open but realised it is coming from the wing mirror when I opened the window and it got louder. You can silence it by running a finger under the wing mirror but I can't see of feel anything that might be causing the sound?! Is there a common problem and does it come from wind of only one direction?! Can't work out why it is such an infrequent occurance?

Sometimes it depends what I've eaten.
Me too [;)]

There is a plastic trim cover on the bottom of the mirror casing. Has that come loose? It did on mine (passenger side) - the clips didn't hold it properly - but I don't recall any noise. If it is the trim, they are only a fiver, and 5 minutes to fit.

Sounds very plausable, the sound definitely comes from the bottom of the mirror. Given the cost/ease I will replace anyway and see if that cures it. Thanks[:)]

Looking forward to another big trip in the car this Friday[:D] 5-6 hours. I mere hop for a Porsche
