Wind Noise

Took the car out today. its been a while as  i have been away quite a bit had a good run but for some reason noticed quite a bit of wind noise, from both driver and passenger side, in fact even pulled up to check the passenger door was shut. It maybe just down to me not driving it for a while? And my everyday car being less noisey

Are the tops of the window touching the seals all the way along, and is the window going up inside the lip at the top? When you are driving, try gently pushing the top rear corner of the window outwards. If the wind noise increases, then the window might need adjusting. Another cause of wind noise on early cars is the windscreen seal, which comes loose. Check to see that it is tight, especially along the top edge, as the wind can get underneath and cause a noise.
 
Thanks Richard The windows are going into the seals i checked this but will also check the windscreen, its not that bad, but i just noticed it more than normal. Phil
 
My 996 was doing the same,if you pop the rubber grommet plugs out the bottom of the doors and use an allen key,you can adjust the angle of the window,adjust the top closer to the seal (push the 2 allen bolts out towards the bottom lip of the door) and the noise will be better
 
I have had a good look and it looks like all the seals are ok, thanks to p5hrr for the great tip, when i get the next chance to have a look i will, how much would an OPC charge for making this adjustment. Phil
 
Another question are these the four large rubber covers two on each end of the bottom of the door, i guess two for the front and the other two for the back of the window? havent yet taken them off but had a look and thought i would ask the question. Phil
 
This is a view from inside the door. One cover is for the height adjustment screw, and the other cover is for the in-out adjustment, which is achieved by moving the bottom mount, as Peter says. There are two at the front and two at the back of the door.
