Window issue

Dazzler

Hi
This morning I was iced in and so the windows would not drop. However after so de-icer and time, the dropped when the door handle was raised. the closed fine and I went on my way. However I noticed that when I opened the door again the window dropped, so I opened the door, but went back up when the door was open, this stopping me from closing it without damage. I therefore opened the window a little, closed the door and from the passenger side raised the window.
Any suggestions as to what this may be? Does it sound like something needs replacing or just resetting?

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Dazz

Probably a dodgy (or sticky) microswitch in the door lock assembly. There are 5 switches in the lock assembly, one of which tells the system that the door is open. A diagnostic check would confirm it.

It may be the microswitch as Richard suggests, but it might also be that the window is confused about where it should be when. With the door shut, if you wind it all the way down and all the way up a couple of times, it re-learns where it should be when - this has worked for me a couple of times.
