Window mechanism repair required

Hi All,

Newbie here...I cannot believe they have forums for this sort of stuff as well as Fantasy Football ![:)]

I would use 'search' but for some reason whatever word I use, I get zero results, any ideas why?

My Boxster driver side window stopped half way up recently, and after much frantic pressing and awful glass crunching noises, I gave up and manually pushed it up to the top.

My local garage does not want to touch it as there is an airbag in the door (and I think they are a bit scared to work on a Porsche). Is there a good mobile Porsche mechanic in the Essex (Southend) area, a longshot I know, or any recomended garages in the area if not

Has anyone had this problem, and how much did it cost to put right ?

Another small issue is that the wheel nuts are matt, and they are a bit rusty. What is the best option, new nuts, or some sort of caps?

It's most likely to be the window regulator (the cable and track mechanism). A replacement from Porsche is about £142+VAT plus fitting. You might also need a door film membrane. Book time is about 1.6 hours. Removing the airbag isn't an issue, so long as you disconnect the battery before starting work, and not reconnecting until you have finished. Otherwise you get the airbag light, and need a Porsche System Tester to reset it.

Thanks for the info. Don't you just hate spendng £300 on something that cannot be seen !!

I have just realised I have a waranty from the dealer, so the window is covered ! Result !!

Any thoughts on the best/usual method on the wheel nuts?
