Window motor issue

Can anyone advise is I can raise the drivers side electric window manually ?
It's just failed and I have a long drive and an overnight stay without a garage before returning to the uk tomorrow.
Many thanks
andy

Unfortunately there is no manual override as with the sunroof. Fixing is the only option I am afraid mate.

Well made it back from France but after 500 miles now suffering from tinitus.
The situation was made worse when putting the hood back up ( convertible ) so it lowered the suspect window even further.
So window will go down when pushing the hood button but will not rise with the door window switch.
I have tried swapping the switches but that doesnt work.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks
Andy

Dig out your trusty multimeter and test the wiring and connections.

I'd bet there is some connection that has slipped off somewhere, or a broken wire. The motor works and the switches do as well, so it can't be anything much else.

Oli.

Does passenger window work properly?
Check the wiring where it comes through the A pillar to the door - sounds like no power to or from the switch.
(assume that it uses the same relay/ fuse as when hood is operated)

So here is where Im at at the moment.
1. passenger window operates correctly
2. There is power going to the window motor.
3. I have managed to get the window back up by reversing the polarity on the motor and then by using the roof button( which usually lowers the window slightly when raising and lowering the roof) but as polarity was reversed raised it.
4. I have swapped switches with the passenger side to check if its a faulty switch.

So I am now at a bit of a loss.

Me too!
Will the drivers side switch work the passenger side window when swapped?
Thinking broken wire - would guess A pillar / door?
Does the roof switch use the same relay to drop the windows as the window switch? If not then could be relay? (mine went recently, and I found that the windows can be moved with either door, open even if the key is nowhere near the ignition! Which it would do even with the u/s relay!)
Thinking here with myfingers! I'd replace the relay!
Hope the rambling makes some sort of sense - been a long day
Mike

My early 944 has a thing where if the switches from one of the doors is disconnected then the others stop working too (sharing a wire somewhere most likely) so it could be that a wire is broken somewhere leading to one of the switches or just a poor connection.

Not sure if the oval dash is wired in a similar way but might be worth a shot since the windows work off the roof system but not the switches.
