Window part -help pls?

I hope this makes sense

On Sunday I noticed that a black painted piece of flat metal between the quarter light window (LHS)rubber seal and a tubular piece of plastic has lost some of it's coating to expose what looks like an alloy body. I would say this is made of Aluminium. I cannot get my PET parts guide to work(I have access to the US version-but cannot see the part) so I was wondering whether somebody could send me a diagram of the LHS quarter light window so that I can locate the part. Equally has anybody ever removed this part, can it just be gently prised out so that I can perhaps re-spray it if I cannot locate a new part ???
Sincerely

Think I know where you mean. I have just sold my 964 and bought a 993 and had a similar problem.
If we have the same problem the aluminum strip does clip out. Also check that the rubber strip is not stuck to the window.
I started from the door end and and prised it out being careful not to catch the top of the wing.
Once out, the rubber strip that is attached to the aluminum strip will slide out.
Once rubbed down with Wet and dry primed and satin finish it looked brand new.
Cost new from OPC £175 + vat.

Rob

Cheers Andy,

A friend also reccomended chip away.

I'll ponder the way forward, your approach sounds feasible.

P.s : how difficult was it to get the part back in ???

Jeff,
The part in question clips back in.The clips actually sit on top of the wing. Line it up at the front and push it back in gently so you can line it up
