Window problems (possibly regulator)?

Wound down passenger window yesterday after it went half way there was a grinding noise and it stopped, I was able to wind it back up again using both the motor and a bit of persuasion by lifting the glass, before I strip the door card off have any of you had this problem, I'm thinking it's probably a regulator fault, is there a common part which tends to fail here? and is it generally repairable? There's a few on ebay but was going to have a look first to see if mine's fixable.

Hi it could be the regulator or the lifter that fixes on the bottom of the window they do rust and part from the window. Some parts are differant between targa and coupe i think i do have some parts. The doors are easy to strip just make a note of where the wires go on the widow switches they do tend to fall off. Berny.

Oh yes, I can definitely vouch for a rusted and collapsed window riser rail - the 'U' channel (the bit the glass sits in) that collects rain water and has no drain holes. I bought new ones for both doors, had them powder coated and all good. Whatever your issue you're going to need to remove the lining etc... and a good lubrication of all the riser mechanism pivot points will benefit big time.

If you're getting stuck into rebuilding the windows I'd recommend replacing the outer window scrapers; this is the ingress point that causes the woes...

This in my experience, I had to mend mine about 18months ago.
