Window Regulator Under Warranty?

Keggers

Hi

I have a squealing electric window that the OPC tells me is a faulty window regulator. Claims its not covered by the warranty, as the warranty only covers electric window motors, and not regulators. Wants €500 + VAT to replace. Seems a bit dodgy given the warranty explicitly states "electric windows" as being covered and I see no carve-out for window regulators.

Anybody had experience of this being covered or not covered?

Cheers
Greg

I think the regulator should be classed as part of the 'electronic control unit' for the 'electric windows'. You can always phone Customer Services at Porsce Cars GB yourself to discuss this - to me this sounds like a mistake on the part of the OPC.

The 'window regulator' is the cable and track mechanism, and they are a reasonably common failure. The cost of a replacement regulator is £105.28+VAT, and there is quite a lot of work to strip the door panels and swap it over - probably a good couple of hours. Why am I not surprised that the warranty doesn't cover it?

Called Porsche Customer Service who backed up the OPC position that its not covered. Electric motor covered only!

I am about to renew my warranty and this is yet another case of the underhanded way Porsche treat us. The reason I am taking it out is for peace of mind as I am not confident that the cars are all that reliable now adays. I have posed before of the turbo forum. I take your word for it that Porsche GB support the OPC but surely the wording of the warranty must need challenging. I may ask Porsche GB for specific details of what is actually covered for the £895, as there seems to be numerous hidden get out clauses as highlighted in this case. After 18+ years of Porsche ownership I am sure that when I next change I will not automatically be looking at Porsche as I have in the past. There is more to the car ownership pleasure that just the driving of it. Do any of our legal expert members have an opinion regarding the vague warranty booket??
