Hi guys, last year i changedthe window regulator on the drivers side. At the moment its fine but when im driving at speed i can hear quite a bit of road noise though the area where the wing mirror resides. Is it possible i didnt quite nip up the bolts hard enough or should i have seating the glass slightly higher? Any help is appritiated as always.

Cheers

Chris

You could try adjusting the position of the front mounting so that it holds the glass a bit tighter to the seal. ie, move the bootom mounting towards the outside of the door. You should be able to do it by removing just the plastic cover on the bottom of the door, loosening the nut, and gently pushing it across. Just move it a bit at a time, to see if it improves, and not far enough to put a strain on the glass.

If the glass is making a good contact with the seal, then you could try adjusting the height, which you should also be able to do from the underside.

Also make sure the seal is clean, and a light wipe with a rubber lubricant can also help.

Ok thanks, i didnt want to accidently raise it too high so that it either wouldnt go into the frame when the door is closed from being open, or the glass be to high when the doors shut and having it be compressed and possibly shatter. Ill have a go later today. Cheers.

I had this issue on mine. It turned out to be the position of the window - it was too far back. I think the gap between the door window and the rear window is quite crucial to establish a good seal. What gap do you have? The front leading edge of the window needs to line up with the edge of the runner to get the correct gap. Re the pressing force, you should adjust it so that it's difficult to pull out a piece of paper shut in the window. If you go to hard it makes a very unrefined rubbery squeaking noise. It's a really fiddly job to balance longitudinal position, level, height and pressing force.
