Window sensor!?!?!

Today when getting into my car "00" boxster s the window dropped as it should but as soon as I let go off the handle raised meaning door hit the hood when trying to shut.
Tried the passenger door and that still drops and stays dropped until the door is closed as it should.
Any ideas on a cure?

You could try resetting the " memory " of the top position:

Lower the window, Press the button to raise to the top, then press and hold the button for a few seconds.
That should reset the "top" position.

If that doesn't work then it might be a little more involved...[&:]

Same thing happened to mine on Friday, I think its a sensor in the door handle - put the lights on then open and close the outside handle when the door is open - the buzzer should sound intermittently.

Is there any way to reset the bottom position as I have the opposite problem. Fully up and dropped positions for door and roof opening are good just the window goes down to far into the door and rattles when down.

Have had similar problem - in so far as my window "forgot" where the top was and it's lowering and raising levels got fudged. Mark's solution worked for me. Although when he says a few seconds he means 10 secs at least [;)]
Hope it works for you too.

Thanks for the reply's so far.
Right well I tried the memory reset but that does not seem to have done anything.
So guessing it must be the sensor in the handle as when you pull the handle it drops but as soon as you let go it goes back up.
911sse I did what you said turned on the lights with the door open and the buzzer sounds when I lift the door handle, it stops when I let it go,
Does this mean its working or faulty?
Cheers

PROBLEM SOLVED [:)]
It was the the door latch mechanism microswitch,

The door latch mechanism is covered in plastic which had worn leaving the surface split and lumpy,so i trimmed this off but then found that the microswitch did not touch the latch mechanism so put a small sticky pad on the top of the switch then when the clip went back on it pushed the microswitch down a little and allowed it to touch and hey presto it works fine.

Only one problem I reconnected the battery to test while the airbag was still dissconneced and this has caused the airbag light to come on, so now need to find out how to reset the airbag light.
