window wont go up - help!

I have my car parked outside with a drivers window that wont go up.

Goes up half way and then stops.

I've managed to get the door panel off but I am no further forward. The motor works but then at half way the window seems to jam

The window has been jumping at a point half way so it seems related to that.

I have a local independant that i will have to take it to tomorrow, unless there is an easy fix. Any ideas?
 
Mine chewed a tooth off the regulator - see attached. I got the glass to go up by helping it with the palm of my hand whilst pressing the button. Solution was to upgrade to a turbo regulator [;)] thanks to Fen. DON'T get bits of your anatomy caught in the mechanism, or you will bleed. A lot.

I've now worked out that mine too has a tooth missing on the regulator. Do I need a whole new unit, or just a new toothed wheel?
