Windows Dropping

Mike, just did a quick search as this come up from time to time, battery problems can cause it or if the battery has been disconnected you need to drive the windows to the max height then down to bottom position or it may be the other way round?? but this sets the working range of the windows apparently. Also, it is possible that you have caught the unlock button on the key while still within range, it can open the windows remotely. This function can be disabled at the OPC or if someone has a PIWIS.

Hi

Anyone with any thoughts on windows which drop after parking the car ?? - is there a (key) setting to adjust this or does it have to be done by a dealer or is it a fault !!

Thanks

As Kevin says, it is one of the many 'confort-via-remote' features which is programmable with the PIWIS tester. You can program comfort opening, as well as comfort closing. When I got mine I programmed it for both, but soon changed it back to comfort closing only. I kept coming back to the car and finding the windows open! The buttons are far too sensitive on the Gen 1 key heads, and I was used to keeping the key in my trouser pocket, which was a mistake. There are Technical Bulletins which say to adjust the button activation time, but I didn't find much difference. Gen 2 key heads are much better.

Sounds more like a battery/power related problem to me. I had the same on my Boxster S 550 when it had been parked for a long time and the battery ran down.

Good to hear of the OPC offering to do the button settings, I forgot to ask them at the last service but have one due in a little over a week, anyone know what is normally charged? On a slightly different tack I have bought a second hand late Gen1 key fob off Ebay which has the different buttons and just swapped the buttons into my own key in the pocket hasn't triggered the windows or boot lids once also seems to give a more definite time to the key pressing but that it probably due to the button recesses and no accidental catching of the buttons. But some sellers are trying to ask ridiculous amounts for these key fobs now and I just made an offer below the going rate then by a little haggling won a reasonable price.
