Also once had this happen to me and whilst working the window switch gave the door panel a good hard smack and hey presto motor kicked back into life

I have never found this tool in my car - there is one for the sunroof, though.

I believe that the windows are electric only.

It definitely shows how to do it in the owners' handbook. The socket for the winding mechanism is behind the twisty door lock knob IIRC. To be honest I've never investigated whether the relevant tool is in the toolkit. Apparently there should also be one for manually raising the seats if the motor pack in !

To get to the motor is easy enough, to replace it is a bit of a tedious job. Check out the article on Pelican parts or in 101 projects on this. Take your time, as there are lots of little plastic bits than can break on the strip down.

I can not think of manual wind....so please let us know if you find one. Remember to mark all the wires on the elect windows switches as they are pain.

Were elec windows an option? If so I would guess the manual mechanism is just enhanced, so it is likely that there is a manual wind.

I don't think so - I have never seen a 3.2 without them.

On a related note, I have been told off by the old bill for not opening my window quicker when he wanted to talk to me. Didn't have time to explain that I had no choice !

Didn't the CS have manual windows?? Anyway, looking in my hand book it states the following:

Power Windows - Emergency Operation

1. Unscrew loudspeaker trim panel by hand. If installed, remove loudspeaker by unscrewing the 3 retaining screws.

2. Pierce the plastic membrane. Take crank and hexagon reducing socket from toolkit and push hexagon socket onto crank as far as it will go.

3. Close window by turning crank.

4. Re-assemble in reverse (it doesn't say that but you get the drift)

It does then say of course to have the fault remedied by your Official Porsche Centre.....

Can confirm, the CS has manual windows. They are great, and frankly work every time.

I wish that they had fitted manual mirrors as well.
