Windows slightly open in the morning

Hi All,

I have a 987.1, 3.2 on an 06 plate and love driving it.

Last night I locked it using the remote, the lights flashed twice and all was good. Returned to the car in the morning, I found that both windows had dropped ~2" and the car was still locked.

Has anyone else had this happen? Does anyone know if there is a fix?

TIA

Peter

Hi Pete,

This happened to me before with my 987 and I thought nothing of it,then found out my drain plug had been blocked and the control unit under the pass side had been damaged by water ingress over a period of time.

Check the passanger side carpet back of seat and under the seat with your hand to feel any damp just in case water found its way in.

When your control unit under the seat goes it creates havoc with some of the electrical systems roof, windows and alarm.

Ps i am no expert but this did happen to me cost me 1500 notes at OPC to sort, and I kick myself for taking no notice of was the windows open a few times after I had closed them...good luck

Question for you Pete: If you lock the car, but continue to press the remote do the windows go up, and when you unlock the car and continue to press the remote do the windows drop?

If the answer is yes to both, sometimes on early 987s accidental use of the remote will drop the windows but the car auto-locks after a delay. Porsche fixed this problem in two ways, a redesign of the key and altering the delay from unlocking to dropping the windows. Porsche later disabled the drop totally on some late model 987s. You can ask your dealer to do this for you.

Hi Nick,

When I return to my locked car, I press down the key fob and the windows lower from fully up to fully down. If I then drive with both windows fully down, park up, walk away and press the key fob, the windows stay downand the car locks and light flash.

So I can't really say yes to both scenerios you suggest really!

Can you help any further?

Peter.

Pete you can probably source a new key top for your existing key, the later ones have recessed buttons. Other option is to drop into your dealer and ask him to change the key delay, though they are likely to scratch the heads and say that can't be done as the last time they did was nearly 10 years ago. The easier option is to turn off the drop option again needs to be done by the dealer and it has to be done to each door, yes there really is a separate computer for each door.
