windscreen and Aerial removal in 964 LHD 1993

Hi Forum

I Hope someone can help me to remove a windscreen and Aerial in a 964 LHD 1993 please?

I have rust around the bottom corners due to a badly fitted glass from AutoGlass sadly.

The sticky point is how to disconnect the areal in a LHD car without breaking it?

Thanks for anyone that can help.

Cheers Sean.

Hi Sean

When you remove the trim from the top of the dash you should see the cable. If the screen has been out or replaced before you should see some sort of connection, mine was taped.

If you can't see the wire, remove the screen carefully and you will see the connection at the bottom. Pull the screen away from the top of the frame not the bottom or you will break the wire.

My screen came out very easily just by pushing the rubber seal out from inside. Went back easily as well.

Good luck

Keith

Disconnecting the antenna on an LHD is much easier as you don't have to pull the clock out and get your hand into a tight hole (oo-er, madam). The antenna must be d/c before removing the screen.

Hi Keith,

So there is no beading to remove first, you just pushed it out?

Also when you put it back was it easy to align, this is the problem with companies like Autoglass, they don't line it up carefully.

Also I read some time ago that the reason that moisture collects in the scuttle area is because there's a channel there and a Factory Bulletin suggested filling this with a flexible sealant. Do you know anything about this?
