Windscreen Cowl for Boxster 986

A common problem with the black windscreen cowl on the earlier 986 models, is that over time, the colour fades and it can look quite unsightly. I have tried restoring it, but it's not the same, it just looks tired and needs replacing. I've spoken to Porsche regarding a replacement and the exact component I need is about £240, but one for a later Boxster (2005 I think), is only about £60.

Does anybody know either a. Where can I get an original (New not used) Windscreen cowl component for a fair bit less than £240 or b. Whether the £60 part from the later Boxster would fit ok onto a 1998 986.

Many thanks folks....

Have you tried anything like

Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer? Lots of people say it gets fantastic results. I’ve bought some but have yet to try it.

Worth a try I would have thought first.

Thanks Cliff. I did try a trim restorer, not sure if it was that one, and it worked for a while, but then it wore off and it needed doing again. I just decided to bite the bullet and replace with a new OEM part, but £240 seemed a lot, when a very similar part was only £60. I'd be very interested in hearing your experiences with the trim restorer you have though, and will do some research into that specific one.
