well so far so good!!

had a brilliant run home from saddleworth moors when I picked up the car last thursday, only marred by the discovery when I got home that there was a small crack in the front windscreen.-hadnt felt anything hit the screen (as i have done in the past)but heyho..called autoglass to come and fill it in with gloop but they couldnt come till today as so busy down here in the south....
anyway he turns up today and we go look at the screen, and after 2 days in the sun crack has extended hairline 4-5cms AND the screen has started to delaminate in bottom drivers corner.curses.obviously needs new screen so i ring the AA insurance who try and palm me off on autoglass for £75excess.i say i am not interetsed and want to use JZM who have looked after all my porsches. The AA offers £100 to the £500 + cost.
i was planning to go back to a specialist insurer when the renewal is due in 3 months as the AA was for the mini-and altho this prob wont happen again which insurer do you guys prefer ,as in will they cover this kind of thing??I wish now of course that i`d just scrapped the last 3 months and changed/taken out new policy straight away but didnt expect to need it on the first outing!!
any thoughts gratefully received

standard AA policy apparently-if you dont want autoglass then they give you£100 contribution so thats presumably all they pay autoglass

peanuts and monkeys springs to mind[:D]

i wil lgive perf marque a call thanks alan

My policy was similar, although they would contribute up to a few hundred IIRC. I let Autoglass do it, but only after talking to the manager at the local indoor centre. He appreciated my concerns about quality of fit and damage to the surround leading to problems later, and got a specialised fitter in to do it. Had to be a Saturday morning, but I was pleasantly surprised with the way they were very enthusiastic about the car.

T'was the Watford depot, JZ refused to do the job for me and said that they just get a cheap fitter in anyway, despite them offering to replace it at the Club night. I was a little disconcerted by their attitude! [&o]

interesting paul
they were more than happy to help and mike who has been fitting porsche windscreens for 31 yrs is doing it tomorrow.

if it was any other car i would prob be happy to give autog a go(including linda's!!)[:D]

but not this baby

ah well!!was certainly worth going the specialist route-he unpeeled the rubber surround to find 2-3 " of corrosion under the seal so rang and went thru the necessary bodywork correction and will fit the new windscreen afterwards.confined to sealed area so hopefully caught in time before serious damage-thandk goodness i went with my gut reaction and booked it in with mike-dont want to think what wouldve happened down the line if .....had just popped another screen in and left it.more expense, but never mind-this car is so excellent in all other respects well worth getting it A1 for the future
