Windscreen replacement - OPC Aberdeen

Recently (ie 3 months) got my windscreen replaced as the stonechips were getting annoying (heard before that a Porsche windscreen is a consumable!).
Decided to go to OPC as I wanted to make sure the job was done right and also as cost would be absorbed by insurance policy (minus excess).
Hadn't used the car much as have been really busy over the summer and hadn't really had time to use it. had certainly not used satnav. But last week noticed that the satnav was displaying the incorrect location (somewhere in the north sea, but couldn't be as my feet were still dry). So figured it would possibly be a comms problem with satellite, was advised via this forum that the antenna cable is sometimes not connected properly so took it back to OPC.

it is important to point out that OPC aberdeen have been great and co-operative and they recognised it can be fairly common with a windscreen replacement for the cable to be damaged or not connected properly. they also pointed out that the windscreen had not been fitted correctly by their 3rd party (who shall not be named at this point).

However, the 3rd party was not so great. they are disputing responsibility on basis of 3 months having passed, which is unreasonable. Also the fact is that it was poor workmanship in the first place and having 3 months pass does not change that.

Good news is that OPC aberdeen are in agreement and also not happy with their supplier but the point is, please check your sat nav if having replacement windscreen done (by anybody). Just to avoid the hassle of even having to take it back (nevermind a potential dispute)

Bit surprised at how this has been handled. I would have thought with taking the car to the OPC and getting them to change the windscreen, that they would be 100% responsible for the management of this problem. They instructed a 3rd party to do the job and obviously never checked the workmanship before handing the car back to you. They say it is a common problem, yet they never checked the satnav before the installer left. The fact that they say the job has not been done right tends to suggest they never checked it at all.
Unless I am missing something here, I don't think you should even be in contact with the installer, surely it's the OPC's problem?

+1 I don't think you should have even been told a third party was involved at all.

If you go to the OPC you expect it to be OPC, as far as I can see it should be a matter of; really sorry we'll get that sorted.

Whether or not Porsche need to fight it out in the background should certainly be of no interest to you and I would remind them of that - otherwise you might as well go to a specialist glass installer yourself and save money, not why you go to the OPC in the first place!

hope they see sense....................

Owing to a rather high speed encounter with a flying rock - had my 991 windscreen done by National Windscreens, much to my finger biting / nervous / insert other P-n-J worry here. Happy to report was all done flawlessly and no satnav issues :)

No time for OPC Aberdeen.

3 times I did a 100 mile round trip to have a fault corrected that should have been seen to before delivery of a car I bought from them.
When I went up to collect it for the third time (after it had been laying up there for 3 days) I asked if it was finally sorted, they said we've not had time to look at it......

I gave up after that.[]
