I am about to replace the screen on my 993 and would appreciate some advice.
I have read a lot about the mods to stop the irritating creaking that seems to occur and which is certainly evidement on my car a 1997 C2s coupe, as it negociates my bumpy drive.
Porsche apparantly introduced a strip which fits around the screen to stop the dreaded creak. But looking at the workshop manual I see that originally it was proposed that you filled around the screen with a mastic. This was put in after sticking in the screen.
It would seem to me that as the screen is sitting totally in mastic/adhesive that it should not be the suspect in the creaking anyway. Just a view.
I have read something on this before but at risk of opening up a can of worms and living in the South of France where it is difficult to get information on these things-that I can understand anyway with my non-technical French, could I please have some comments.
Thanks in advance.
John.
