Windscreen washer fluid light

Guest

Hi guys,

I was driving my 993 2 weeks ago and the windscreen washer fluid light came on. After my next fuel stop I topped up the system with fluid and water. Trouble is the light will not go out. It was definitely topped up to full and has been flushed through since filling. Any ideas? I've had a quick look around and don't see anything strange.

Regards
Scott

Hi Maurice,

Yep, tried that. but I don't have the central warning light on, just the 'low washer fluid light'.

I'm off to mid-sussex OPC tomorrow so i'll see if they have any ideas.

Thanks,

Scott.

A DIY on getting at the washer bottle would be useful. This is slightly off topic, but my washer fluid smells really bad. I've tried siphoning the fluid out, replacing it with new fluid, repeating this several times, first with de-ionized water only, then with de-ionized water + Porsche screen wash, and although the smell abates for a while, it eventually keeps coming back. It's as tho there's a dead rat in the washer bottle.

I can't imagine that a 'hammer' reset will be required, but I must confess I've never run out of washer between services ....

...cheers, Maurice [:D]

No, as soon as you fill the bottle back up the light goes out.

I can confirm with ian_uk, the light will go out once full, but you have to switch the ignition off then on again to reset the light.

ie. if you fill the washer bottle with the engine running as I sometimes do, the light will stay lit until you restart the car.

Does anyone know off the top of their head what the volume of the washer bottle is? Mine never seems ro run out, so i'm guessing it's either bigger than the petrol tank or fills itself by collecting rain water [;)], but just in case it does, it would be useful to know how big it is to work out how much to diltue the washer fluid by.

Thanks

No, but the Driver's Manual says approx 7.0 litres [;)] (Not RS)
