Windscreen washer problem

I had to use my windscreen washer yesterday for the first time since buying the car in late August. To my surprise the jet of water squirted out near the bottom near side corner of the windscreen rather than onto the screen. Further investigation resulted in finding a broken pipe (as per photo). Cambridge OPC tell me "it’s a common thing”. I was just wondering if others had experienced this problem?

Thanks.

Hi John,

Not experienced this myself but have heard of the problem before, so it's definitely not a one-off.
Has the problem been attended to satisfactorily and if you don't mind me asking, was it done under warranty?

Morning Mark
I’ve established on another forum and with my OPC that it’s a known problem. The car is booked in on Friday and, given I’ve only had the car for 7 weeks and this was the first time I’d used the washers, it had better be covered by the warranty! I presume that the pipe wasn’t broken when they did the MOT. I’ll report back later.

Funnily enough, exactly the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. In all my years of 911 ownership I’d never heard of this issue. It actually happened when the car was having its ceramic coating refreshed at a well know north London establishment so I suggested to them that they must be responsible. One of their directors, who is a Porsche buff also said it’s a common fault but said he’d have one of his guys fix it free of charge anyway. Fair play to him!! He also told me that when it happened to him, Porsche sorted it under warranty. But his car was brand new at the time whereas mine is 4 years old so I was happier accepting his kind offer. Only issue I was left with was slightly misdirected windscreen jets (which are not adjustable) - see my other recent post. But I’ve managed to sort it out by fiddling about under the bonnet a little .

UPDATE

Cambridge OPC replaced the broken pipe free of charge and the wiper blades under warranty. I’m convinced they missed the problem in the pre-delivery inspection/MOT.

Thanks for all your replies.
