Windscreen & Waxoyl Question

My 993's 13 years old this month (haven't got it a present yet). As a teenager now, maybe it's going to get more expensive!?

Windscreen squeaks when going over bumps. There's no sign of rust around the screen, but quite a lot of moisture under the outside windscreen seal on both sides at the bottom of both pillars (where you might expect it to collect). No interior leaks (as far as I know!)

What do you think about squirting a little Waxoyl round the screen (under the seal on the outside). Will it damage the seal/bonding material? Might cure the squeak & prevent/hold off corrosion....?

This used to be a life saver under the rubber seals of older cars like Triumphs etc which I had a few years back.

Any comments before I start squirting?

I am just about to get my screen replaced. Do you think the windscreen fitters will be aware of this, or should I purchase the tape. Does anyone know the part number.
The R.A.C. are fitting a new screen under the insurance. But have been waiting 7 weeks for the screen they keep ordering the wrong one for some strange reason.
I thought all 993 sreens were the same?

Before they start ask them where are they going to plug the radio antenna in.

From memory they have to remove the clock to fit it. If they don't know then they haven't done one before !!

Maurice will correct me if I'm mistaken.

In responce to SLYNES I had my screen replaced through a local specialist who do a lot of Porsche fits due to being approved by the local OPC, however they ordered my window 3 times due to the new one being "diffrent" and needing to be fitted in a diffrent way. However following a call to Porsche UK they were informed that the window style had been changed allegedly for ease of installation. It may pay to check the RAC are not rejecting it due to it looking diffrent as it may just be the newly designed version.
