Windscreen wiper comes away from arm

Hi all,

I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Mike and I have just purchased a white 944 s2
Thanks Paul who came to view it with me the other week, I think I got a pretty decent deal for £3K

The drive home on the M1 back to London was just lovely and the car seems in very good shape, except for some rust that I am aware of and it needs a service, which I have factored into the initial cost.

Anyway, I neglected to test the windscreen wipers when I bought it and luckily for me it didn't rain on the way home. But when I was messing around with it the right wiper got stuck and stopped moving. Oh God, here we go I thought. Anyway, I popped the hood up and it seems to have come away from the arm that connects it to the motor. I can put it back onto the arm and it works for a few seconds before popping out again. I can't see if it is missing a part that keeps it in there, or how it is supposed to stay in?

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Glad to hear it's going well! My Lux did the same thing the first time I drove it, the arm was held on with a rubber band. [&o]

It's a ball joint that wears out, mine was a few pounds and the guy only took minutes to change it.

Cheers guys,

Thanks for the help and thanks for that link. Some very useful information there.

I am going to take it for a service at Jaz in Wembley. I assume they are pretty good.

Known issues are that the car pulls to the left very slightly. This coupled with the near side front tyre being low in tread makes me think the tracking is out, hopefully nothing that can't be sorted in a service.

The dashboard dials don't light up either, but the rest of it does, I guess it's on a different circuit. I replaced a couple of blown fuses but it didn't seem to help o I'm guessing it's a loose connexion somewhere.

I shall have fun learning. Will put some pics up when I get round to taking them

Cheers
