Windscreen wiper fault on my 944S2

The drivers side wiper stopped working - predictably of course at the worst time in the middle of a heavy rainstorm!
Upon investigation I found that the 'socket' on the arm from the motor has fallen off the 'ball' at the end of the arm attached to the wiper, and keeps falling off every time the wipers operate.
It's not obvious how I should fix it. Do I have to replace both arms (which looks to be a very fiddly job)? Is there a (relatively) simple trick or workaround?
Any guidance much appreciated.
Alan

Buy a replacement connectin rod (the bit with the socket end), it's only a few quid even from an OPC & doesn;t take long to replace.
There are push on sockets at both ends, the inner one may be stiff but just push down & it'll pop off.
The reason for it happening is that rainwater washes down off the windscreen directly onto that outer ball & socket, washing away the grease. Keep it lubed up & you should be okay. Some people use rubber bands to hold it together btw, ymmv.

It'll be what he just said has happened to me before and all it was were the wiper connection rod I think it's about £10ish from an OPC so not too much at all and very easy to fix.

Even easier - put a rubber band around it like the guy who sold me my car. Of course, it will break again at the worst time!! []

Thank you all for the tips and advice. First thing tomorrow I'll be on the phone to order the replacement part - meantime Paul has suggested a use for all those red elastic bands the postman seems to discard through my letterbox . . .

it must be catching mine have stopped returning on anything apart from full speed ? they go up but dont come down ! any ideas
