Windscreen wiper woes

Can somebody tell me what controls the intermittent function and parking of my windscreen wipers, since they aren't behaving. When I "flick" the stalk up to give single pass of the screen, the wipers don't park properly, the finish about 4 inches (100mm ish ) above where they should. An even smaller flick does however bring them back home.

Equally when I push down to select intermittent wipe, the wipers don't immediately move, they take a certain amount of time before they swing into action, this time varying depending on where the intermittent time setting is set for.

Both not deal breakers, but both quite irritating and not like any other car I have ever owned. A passenger commented that it was charming and made it feel like a proper classic car, although his comparison to an MGB was unwelcome. So is there a relay somewhere that could be suspect?

Thanks

James

Not had that on my 944, but when it happened on old bangers in my youth, invariably turned out to be the column stalk - I used to have a lot of success (occasionally temporary!) with contact cleaner spray. Spray it into the switch/stalk and operate it a few times & hey presto.....

Hopefully!

it could be the timer rheostat. Try working the intermitant timer wheel back and forward a few times to clean it

Good suggestion, but I must move it about five times every journey at the moment. Like all things though, I will check as it 's been around a few years now.

Thanks Nick, I will try that too, especially as I have plans to move the immobiliser LED from that location.

Cheers
