Windscreen Wipers Not Working

Hi,

So after getting increasingly noisy, my front windscreen wipers have now completely packed in. Not being mechanically gifted, I have no idea what to check to troubleshoot what is wrong. From reading a few other posts it sounds likely that the wiper motor has packed in, does that sound like a reasonable assumption and if so what are my options? Can you refurbish the motor or am I looking at buying 2nd hand parts to replace it?

Cheers,
Peter

Well I would start with the appropriate fuse-then the relay-noise indicates worn or seized bearings-either spindles or linkages or eventually the motor-also could be badly worn brushes.

If you are not able to work your way through the various components checking each element in turn, then take it to a garage you trust-it doesn't have to be a Porsche specialist for windscreen wipers-but you could always offer to get the bits yourself with their diagnosis from one of the reliable second hand Porsche parts suppliers.

Thanks Vitesse, definitely isn't the fuse and the spindles/linkages seem fine. Looks like the motor is trying to operate but can't so suspect that it is at fault.
