Windscreen wipers

The drivers side connecting rod came off the wiper arm when I switched the wipers on with a dry screen, there was a small amount of "play" in the ball joint when I pressed it back on.
To avoid a repeat of this I fitted a spring steel "windscreen wiper motor linkage repair clip" from "Ask the Mechanic" I had to open up the gap that fits around the neck of the ball joint to approx. 11.5 mm and also increased the gap between the top and bottom of the clip by bending so that the clip supported the rod without holding it too tight.
The clip supports the weight of the arm. Cost of clip approx. £4. I used a dremel grinder to open up the gap.
The wipers judder from time to time I am not sure what the cause is but they seem better with 17 inch wipers rather than 18 inch.

exactly the same, just not listed in PET

long 945 628 033 00 £9.52
short 945 628 034 00 £8.87

worth getting the crank too 944 628 330 00 £6.25

next job on my list is to rebuild the wiper motor as its a bit noisy, the bearing is cheap as chips about £3 think its 6000 something size wise.

just have to remove the top of the heater box to get it all out does not take long about 30 mins or so

But does it make a lot of noise, mine is about 50% quieter in operation now and once the bearing is replaced should be like new again
