Windscreen Wipers

When driving my car yesterday, I had to use the washers to clear the screen...smattered with flies from a drive the night before, and then in drizzle so the screen was a tad murky...

The screen washers squirted as the should with a nice solution of wash etc...with an automatic 3 or 4 wipes of the wipers...but at what I would call the 2nd speed (fast)...this does not a lot apart from throw off the nice screen wash you have just squirted on!!!

Question...could the switch be wired up to the fast wiper speed instead of the slow speed?

Has this come up before, is it correct..and has anyone come up with a mod??

Just turn your wipers on to the desired speed then use the squirter otherwise it just uses the 2nd speed (as you correctly identified).

I put a pair of the double spring wipers from a 964 on my 3.2 along with new wiper blades and found they were a significant improevment over the ones that were on the car.

I compared both position and operation of the 3.2 wipers with those on my Audi A4, and it would appear the 3.2 wipers are mounted in a different way, leaving a large area in front of the driver un-wiped when compared with the A4 which wipes from left to right and clears a greater area right up to the screen pillar in front of the driver giving increased visibility

I've just bought a new set of blades from Halfords as had replaced the original refills and they were still awful.

The Halfords complete blades are perfect, clipped in in 30 seconds. I was amazed!!!

I have the double ones fitted along with Bosche blades. Better, but still misses the top inch on the drivers side due to the curvature of the screen.

Porscheshop have them got some at the weekend arms and blades nearly £80. Another bill I had to hide. Have not fitted them yet but will do later this week.
The problem with the wipers is that the cars are designed for left hand drive, arms swing to passenger side.

If you try to buy wiper arms for your SC or 3.2 from a main agent you will find that the items have been superceded by the twin spring 964 ones.
