anybody had one fitted recently
Autowindscreens (AA) or National widscreens ??? comments please thanks G that the 2 comp A Manning ins use as stopped using AUTOGLASS

I had one fitted in my 987 Boxster about 3 years ago cannot remember who did the job ,i have a feeling it was Autoglas ,Did a great job at the house .
Make sure it is a official Porsche screen as there stock screens are not ...i insisted on an official one and they purchased the screen from Glasgow OPC and came to the house to fit .
There is a mark on the left hand corner that say's St Gobin or similar that is an official make You will also need the fitting kit as well as the screen and it has to be left for 24hrs to cure

Hi
Had mine fitted by OPC Cambridge its done properly and comes with the usual guarantees, it was reasonably priced at around £650
so check with ins company mine allows up to £1000[:D]

Gordon,
Autoglass did my Turbo a couple of years ago and after five (5) screens, got it right. Porsche Edinburgh then told me they could have supervised the fitting so might be an option. I also believe Porsche can fit it, you pay them in full, then claim back from insurers although as I say this was a couple of years ago.
Good luck.

I believe they sub the work out to a contractor and take a cut ...well that was the case when i got mine done Just make sure it is an original not a copy
I would imagine your screen is different to other 911 's

THANKS for replys got it organised thru Clearview (Stewart) based in Cambuslang they fit for Glasgow OPC Only downside is uve got to pay total.. then reclaim from A Manning but at least hes ordered all parts and knows that part of cage has to be removed for easier access unlike the Big companies who want to fit their own screens and after 3 attempts last time with Autoglass didn't want to go thru hassle again as they wouldn't slacken roll cage bolts as its a Health &safety issue !!!! ill let u know how it goes cheers G ps NOT LONG TILL O/Park lets hope the rain stops

Front window fitted to my C4s at auto glass in bailieston no problem, rested for 4 or 5 hours, if it doesn't stick by then, 20 extra hours isn't going to make any difference. Dont to get too hung up. It's only a window.

I got a front screen done by the very same Autoglass shop on an Honda Accord and subsequantely gained a water feature in the boot!

Glad to hear all went ok in the end.

SO, you lot will laugh your socks off now - guess what - pootling along the M8 to home yesterday evening in slow but surprisingly light traffic, out of nowhere came - you've guessed it - a missile!!!!

Result? quite a loud bang and a seriously good crack on the nearside, right in the passenger line of sight, (thank goodness) or it would have been another new window after only 11 months.

This one is repairable and not a potential MOT fail - a lucky escape.

With two minutes on Autoglass web site I'm now booked for the repair tomorrow morning.

The joys!

Hah, knew it was too easy. The tech looked at the tiny wee crack and pronounced it DOA - new windscreen required.
Only had that one 11 months! They should bolt them in if it's going to be a disposable item thanks to our roads.
Booked in for next week with Autoglass. Will advise any issues.
